  Abstract:  Paru à l’initiative de Donald Friedman, le volume consacré à Paul Willems a été financé par le Ministère de la Culture de la Communauté Française de Belgique. En tête de ce recueil d’hommage figurent deux nouvelles de Paul Willems, traduites en anglais par Donald Friedman. Le choix des nouvelles Les Cerises et Les Sphères d’eau justifie l’affirmation du traducteur qui nomme Willems “a poet of memory” (“un poète de la mémoire”). Cette appellation signifie non seulement le fait que la voix mélancolique du prosateur Willems célèbrerait un Eden perdu qui est celui de la poésie immanente, mais aussi le fait que, en témoin honnête, Willems décrit également la cruauté et les violences du monde.
