Abstract:  We may find the lists of spiritual gifts in some New Testament books, but sometimes we rest satisfied with the superficial knowledge about them. The spiritual gifts are mentioned more specificallyin the following New Testament books and texts: Rom 12,3–8; 1 Cor 12,1–12.28–31; 14,1–40 and Eph 4,1–16. We will discuss briefly the cited texts and then we will examine in detail the most comprehensive list found in 1Cor 12,8–10.1Cor 12,11 closes the list remembers us that the spiritual gifts are the gifts of the Holy Spirit which are given according to His own will to the Christians. The Spirit is one but the gifts are manifold. Often occur the mistake of the early Corinthians even today, when Christians emphasize the speaking in tongs among the other nine gifts and refer to it as the sign of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Paul does not mention accidentally this spiritual gift at the end of his list, but he wants to calm down the over enthusiastic Corinthians. He wants to draw their and simultaneously our attentionto the fact that the prophecy is more important than the speaking in tongues, and above every spiritual gift is the still more excellent way, the love, the learning of which is our lifelong duty and task.

Keywords: the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, diverse kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues.
