Abstract:  For centuries the Orthodox, the Catholic and the Protestant Churches have developed on their own way, dogmatic differences, of cult or organisation between them, increasing in time. Even more, these heresies have decided the social, political and institutional evolution of the nations in Europe, giving rise to some different ways of life. In the name of so called spiritual unity of Europe, different western circles are following to impose the political model of the European construction in the religion’s space. But politics has its own laws, different from the religious identities or affinities, which seeks to subordinate. In this way is tried a vain translation of economical superiority of the protestant and catholic western states, regarding the orthodox states, in the spiritual domain or with other words an undermine of Orthodoxy. Certainly the economy wins the field day by day, and the competition spirit has moved to the human spirit level. Each individual dreams to become an ”entrepreneur”, that is not depending on anyone anymore and to be his own ”manager”. That’s why a long discussion separates today the European political leaders regarding the role and the place the religion has to play in the modern society.

Keywords: Orthodoxy, European integration, spiritual unity, Christianity.
