  Abstract:  As the title shows, this paper deals with St. Basil the Great view regarding the unity of the Church, a view expressed both in words and deeds. The merit of this Cappadocian Father in fighting for the unity of the Church is greater than that of the other “Nicaean” Fathers, as he was confronted, in his diocese, with a more complicated situation than in others. According to Saint Basil, the unity of the Church lies in the uniqueness of Christ. As Christ is One, although divine and humane at the same time, so the Church should be one, a divine-humane institution, having Christ as its Head. The true faith is the foundation of this unity, as well as a visible sign of it.
