The Spiritual Doctrine of Nicholas Cabasilas in the Context of the Eastern Spirituality of the 16th Century. The spiritual doctrine of the theologian Nicholas Cabasilas presents in this article a synthetical vision on the historical and religious context where he lived and elaborated a saint theology and a spirituality which are not depending on any political, religious movement or on a theological system. Cabasilas underlines the importance of the anthropological and Christological foundation in which Christ is the „center of the history of the universe” through His incarnation and the man is called to participate to this communion of love and life in which the human being becomes divine, transformed through the power of sanctification of the Holy Spirit, „the artist of iconography of the Holy Trinity”. Also, the author pays attention to the mariological dimension which in his mentality are a real „ecumenical bridge” between East and West.
