  Abstract:  Conform Notei editorilor acestui volum (p. 9), Colocviul internaţional desfăşurat la Bucureşti în anul 2005, sub egida New Europe College, era cea de-a doua manifestare dintr-o serie de trei, desfăşurate pe parcursul a trei ani la Bucureşti şi la Sofia, toate având ca obiect de studiu teologia politică medievală în spaţiul ortodox. Mai precis, un studiu comparativ, prin contribuţii din partea unor istorici, istorici ai artei şi jurişti, care s-au aplecat cu precădere asupra unor arii şi perioade ale societăţilor majoritar ortodoxe mai puţin cercetate până în prezent, cum sunt aşa numitele „periferii bizantine” şi perioada post-bizantină, pentru a surprinde modul în care Biblia a inspirat ideologia politică şi dreptul în Evul mediu şi la începuturile Epocii moderne în aceste spaţii.
