  Abstract:  Evoluţia istorică a conceptului de solidaritate. În zilele noastre se vorbeşte tot mai mult despre solidaritate. Acest concept este utilizat în contexte diferite fie că este vorba de programe politice, fie în cazul unor catastrofe naturale sau situaţii extreme şi nu în ultimul rând în discursul unor lideri religioşi. Însă acest termen nu este unul de dată recentă, ci are o lungă şi „colorată’’ istorie. Prezentul articol îşi propune să investigheze istoria evoluţiei acestui termen, reliefând diversele accepţiuni şi utilizări conferite acestuia. Acest articol se doreşte a fi primul dintr-o serie, care vizează problematica solidarităţii, aşa cum se reflectă ea în doctrina socială a Bisericii catolice, dar şi accepţiunea acestui termen în societatea românească post-comunistă.
