PAUL TARAZI – A WRITTEN PAGE – IN THE ROMANIAN NEW TESTAMENT BIBLICAL RESEARCH. ASSESSMENTS, PERSPECTIVES. Authors: . |

Abstract: In this article I try to analyse the biblical perspective of a former doctorate student, Paul Tarazi, who has studied Orthodox Theology in Romania in the period of time 1965-1969; 1973-1976. During his study in Romania Paul Tarazi has published some articles being concentrated especially on the following topics: Death and Resurrection according to the Epistle to the Romans; Jesus’ cross and its symbol; Christ’s mystery according to the Epistle to the Ephesians; Church –the body of Christ. Through his writings Paul Tarazi makes a significant contribution in defining an Anastasic Christology of the New Testament by correctly emphasizing that the unity between Christ’s earthly life and His death is established in His ressurection. For Paul Tarazi, the Church, being the Body of Christ, is the place where the two worlds, Jewish and Gentile, have merged into one entity for all time. Simultaneously, the Body of Christ is the symbol of a continuous fullfilment of the Messaianic promises surrounding the ”new Israel”, namely the Christian People. Therefore, in the Romanian Biblical Theology, Paul Tarazi’s studies constitute a thought-challenging point of reference when studying the message of the Holy Scripture.
