  Article:   THE TEACHING ABOUT „PRAXIS” IN ST. BASIL’S GNOSEOLOGY.

  Abstract:  Teachings on “praxis” are highly important within the teachings of knowing God of Saint Basil the Great. The various means of knowing the Lord are a proof of the strong connection there is between this life, considered a gift from God, and eternal life in communion with God, as a result of our efforts and of the godly promise and help. The criteria of learning to know God show gnoseology as an everlasting spiritual uprise, starting with the rational understanding of knowing God. Then, continuing with the spiritual effort of purifying oneself as a premises of getting closer to God, then by means of “theoria”, meaning the contemplation of the uncreated things of the Lord which gives a new dimension of knowing the Creator and, finally, of attaining divinity – a way of eternal intercommunity with God, a condition that allows any redeemed man a full knowledge of the Lord.
