Abstract:  The Church – Sacrament of Salvation: Karl Rahner’s Contribution. This article presents the vision of the famous Jesuit theologian Karl Rahner (1904-1984) on the sacramental dimension of the Church, insisting on the notion of the Church as source and result of the Sacraments. As an extension and historical presence of the Body of Christ, the source of sanctity, the Church has been termed universal Sacrament, original Sacrament, and fundamental Sacrament of salvation, respectively. From the pierced side of Christ – the original Sacrament, was born the Church – the fundamental Sacrament, and from it stemmed the particular Sacraments – through which the life of God is extended into the life of people, and the sanctifying salvific grace is bestowed upon the world.

Keywords: Karl Rahner, Christ, Church, grace, Sacrament, sign, symbol, „opus operatum”, „opus operantis”, salvation.
