  Abstract:  În decursul timpului am asistat la definirea a numeroase concepţii referitoare la istorie. Istoria, cu toate că, este un fenomen foarte complex, este departe de a mai putea fi considerată ca un destin spiritual. Singura noastră posibilitate de existenţă spirituală este, în viziunea lui Eliade, "soteria", adică ieşirea din propria condiţie, pierderea limitelor, trecerea dincolo. Acribia istoricilor, demersul paseistic, atitudinea apolinică, aticismul, elitismul, naţionalismul devin acum concepte desuete, pernicioase chiar. Falimentul acestora ni se pare firesc, ne simţim chiar îngrădiţi (unii) de aceşti termeni care nu mai pot face faţă noilor cerinţe, ale unei noi societăţi-societatea postmodernă.
