  Abstract:  Any attempt to present the fundamentals of faith, history, ecclesiology or the two thousandth anniversary of the Catholic Church is a real challenge for even the most avid connoisseurs. The difficulty of drawing up such work comes not only from the generosity of the raised issues and put serious obstacles to the specialist, because the temptation of interpretations, specialized language itself, especially when is taking to consideration the penetration of information to the wide public. One of the most recent books appearances engaged in an enterprise of this kind whom belongs to Lawrence S. Cunningham theologian at the University of Notre Dame. From the beginning, the author considers writing a synthesis concerning Catholicism, which refuses to confuse it with history, although the call to the past is inevitable. Therefore, distinguished professor stated intention is to provide technical not a theological book, none of history itself, but rather a mixture of both.
