  Abstract:  Începând din 2001, un colectiv de clasicişti coordonat de Ioana Costa a iniţiat publicarea, la editura ieşeană „Polirom”, a uneia dintre cele mai interesante opere de la sfârşitul veacului I d. H. - Naturalis historia a lui Plinius cel Bătran. Această vastă enciclopedie, tradusă acum pentru prima dată în limba română, conţine un impresionant cumul de cunostinţe, informaţii, însemnări, curiozităţi, deosebit de instructive pentru lectorul pasionat de antichităţi, dar din care poate trage profit şi specialistul în istorie, antropologie, geografie, meteorologie, geologie, zoologie, botanică, astronomie, medicină, farmacologie etc.
