  Abstract:
Éva Franciska Csáky (1662–1729) entered the Order of Saint Claire in 1669, and she got into the Bratislava convent. Later she played a very important role in the life of Clarissa nuns as an abbatissa. After leaving Bratislava, she organized and led the order’s settling in Buda and Pest. Her literary work is also remarkable; her translations in manuscript form give us a picture of the erudition of the Clarissa nuns as well as everyday life in their convents. This paper presents the education of Poor Clare novices in the Baroque period based on Éva Franciska Csáky’s works.

Keywords: abbatissa, Csáky, Éva Franciska, education, manuscript, nun, Order of Saint Clare, prayer, regulation, spirituality, translation.
