Article:   EPR SPECTROSCOPY APPLIED TO THE STUDY OF ANCIENT CERAMICS: PRELIMINARY RESULTS FOR BRONZE AGE POTTERY FROM ILISUA.

Authors:  C. IONESCU.

Abstract:  Ceramic pottery fragments of Ilişua archaeological site were studied by Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR). The Fe3+ EPR spectra evidence the disposal of ferric ions in different environments depending on their thermal history. The firing temperatures of the row clays used in manufacturing of the investigated ceramic samples were compared based on the relative intensity of the resonance lines.

Keywords: EPR; ancient ceramics.
