SEMANTIC CONSIDERATIONS ON NEGATION IN CONVERSATION / CONSIDÉRATIONS SÉMANTIQUES SUR LA NÉGATION DANS LE DIALOGUE. Authors: VICTORIA MOLDOVAN. |
||||||
Abstract: Semantic Considerations on Negation in Conversation. As peculiarly human acts, negations are here analyzed in terms of their multiple significations and pragmatic functions, as resulting from dialogic communication. From among a rich negation corpus, we have selected and analyzed the category carrying in negations such affective overtones as the following: nici de leac (not in the least), cu niciun preţ (no way whatsoever), odată cu capul (not over my dead body), în vecii vecilor (never ever again), la Paştele cailor (when pigs fly), Doamne fereşte (God forbid), ştie Han-Tătar (God only knows) etc. Keywords: Romanian language, pragmatics, semantics, pro-sentence, negation, negation markers, dialogue, affectivity.
