  Abstract:  Ce travail est né d’un constat: il n’existe pas de poétique du nom propre, en littérature, qui repose sur une théorie linguistique du nom propre. C’est ce hiatus entre études littéraires et études linguistiques qui sera analysé dans la première partie, avant que soient esquissés, dans un deuxième temps, les fondements d’une poétique du nom propre qui n’élude pas l’approche linguistique. Dans les deux derniers volets, l’appareil conceptuel proposé sera appliqué à l’œuvre en vers de Verlaine, et je chercherai à dégager les emplois du nom propre les plus représentatifs du «style» de ce poète.
