  Abstract:  Cu privire la unificarea limbii germane din Est şi Vest după 1989. După patru decenii de coexistenţă a două state germane cu sisteme social-politice diferite, anul 1989 reprezintă, prin unificarea celor două „Germanii”, o cotitură nu numai în evoluţia politică, ci şi în ceea ce priveşte ansamblul limbii. Schimbări spectaculoase, inovaţii lingvistice, mutaţii semantice îşi găsesc expresia în special în lexicul germanei contemporane. Demersul nostru oferă exemple în acest sens insistând asupra principalelor momente ce marchează această evoluţie. Ne vom opri în cele ce urmează şi asupra noii ediţii din 1991 a Duden-ului, de data aceasta unificat, asupra inovaţiilor lexicale şi a disputelor lingviştilor, deopotrivă din Est si Vest, cu privire la noua realitate lingvistică a Gemaniei unificate.
