  Abstract:  The aim of this lecture is to present to those who are more or less newcomers to the field of grammar, in a hopefully pedagogical way, a more unified description of the so-called reflexive Romanian pronoun se than the one usually found in grammars, which often place too much emphasis on the fact that it "reflects" the grammatical subject. It will be argued that the pronouns main function is to change the basic structure of a verb, a change that affects both the syntactic functions and their semantic roles.
