Abstract: The Functions of the Character in Modern Utopia. The utopian imagery usually describes an ideal life in an ideal society which finally appears to be out of reach. What is the place and the functions of the character in this world? The paper "The Functions of the Character in Modern Utopia" investigates the evolution of the utopian hero from schematism to sophistication by analysing its status and functions in the literary utopia. The last part of the paper deals with the tragic condition of the utopian character. | |||||||
