  Abstract:  Reading for Dreaming as an Artiste. In his novel, Marcel Proust analyzes the oniric process and insists on the function of the dream of transforming the impression into image. By analyzing the extracts from Du côté de chez Swann, dedicated to the reading of the novel, I intend to prove that the writer finds this function at the level of the artistic imaginary which transforms the impression of the real into an artistic expression and confers to the act of reading the role of validating the value of the work.
