Abstract: Purchasing Characteristic Activities of Capital Equipment. The purchase of capital equipment comprises one of the greatest challenges to a purchasing department. Such acquisitions usually require detalied specifications, involve large dollar expenditures, and last for a long time before they are replaced with new equipment. The purchase of capital equipment differs from that of other items in the following ways: nature and size of expenditure, extended negotiations, lead-time requirment, involvement of other departments, flexible specifications, detailed records requirments, high value, nonrecurring purchases, government inducements and allied purchases. | |||||||
