CANTOR AND MINISTER IN A VALUE-CREATING WORSHIP. Authors: . |

Abstract: The present study evaluates the current situation of Hungarian Reformed liturgy and worship. In the context of a consumer and information society the genuineness and relevance of Reformed ecclesiastical service becomes an ever-increasing challenge for our communities. The demands coming from the part of the believers and the traditional liturgical forms are in continuous dialectical relationship. One of the possibilities for renewal in this sense lies in the reestablishment of the relationship between the minister and the cantor or choir-leader of the congregation. In this sense, as the author argues, it is necessary to provide the student of theology with a substantial knowledge and culture of church music and hymns. The second part of the presentation offers a few solutions to the immediate challenges facing our church communities with the intent to preserve what is best of the tradition combined with contemporary answers to the spiritual needs of the believers. Keywords: church music, liturgy, minister-training, church musician-training, worship |
