Abstract: It is shown that every almost linear mapping of a JC*-algebra into a JC*-algebra is a homomorphism when for all unitaries , all and all , and that every almost linear continuous mapping of a JC*-algebra of real rank zero to a JC*-algebra is a homomorphism when for all is invertible}, all and all . We moreover prove the Hyers-Ulam stability of homomorphisms in JC*-algebras. This concept of stability of mappingswas introduced for the first time by Th.M. Rassias in his paper [On the stability of the linear mapping in Banach spaces, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 72 (1978), 297-300]. | |||||||
