EMERGENCY SERVICE SYSTEMS AND ROBOTS. Authors: ALINA MIRON. |
||||||
Abstract: Emergency service systems are evolving once with the development of different technologies. The tendency of the emergency service systems is to become universal services that can deal with a great variety of situations. Steps are made towards the introduction of robots in such systems but there exist many questions that come into view: how do robots search for people, should there be used independent robots or controlled from distance, when and how the decision to announce an emergency service is made. We will try to answer this questions and focus our attention on the integration of robots in the emergency service system, presenting some experimental results obtained using a robot Robotino, a couple of PDAs and a laptop. This experiment main disadvantance is the poor precision of the human finding process but this is a problem to which we''ll try to present a solution. Key words and phrases. robots, emergency systems, human detection. |
