Abstract: Instead of using or fine-tuning the well-known greedy methods to induce decision trees, we propose a new method, which explores the `brute'' force of evolutionary algorithms to evolve decision trees, used mainly for classification. MEP, a new evolutionary technique is used for representing the decision trees. The paper is organized as follows: the introduction makes a short overview of the decision tree induction techniques. Section 2 contains the short review of the basics of the MEP. Section 3 contains the description of the MEPDTI. Section 4 presents the results, followed by the conclusions, and possible ways to improve the presented method. | |||||||
