  Abstract:  În anul 2002 (după unii în 2001) s-au împlinit 400 de ani de la naşterea lui Athanasius Kircher, preot iezuit de origine germană, filosof, arheolog, geograf, teolog, astrolog, naturalist, astronom, filolog, lingvist, alchimist, etnolog, matematician, fizician şi muzicolog, cel care a pus la Roma bazele muzeului public, înţeles ca loc de vizită şi studiu. Catalogul este împărţit în opt ca-pitole tematice, toate circumscrise ideii centrale de a da o imagine cât mai completă a extraordinarei personalităţi a lui Athanasius Kircher: I. Muzeul Kircherian; II. Exotism şi misionari; III. Ermetism şi Egiptologie; IV. Astro-nomie şi ştiinţe ale pământului; V. Maşinării şi ştiinţă; VI. Pinacoteca Colegiului Roman; VII.Arheologia; VIII.
