Abstract:  David Prodan - Historian of the Eighteenth Century. The paper reviews the historical concerns of academician David Prodan (1902-1992) a hundred years after his birth. The commemorated author elaborated three fundamental works dedicated to the Romanian 18th century in Transylvania: the monograph Horea’s Upheaval (two editions, 1979, 1984), the comprehensive study on Supplex Libellus Valachorum (three editions, 1948, 1967, 1984) and the work Serfdom in Transylvania Between 1700-1848. The questions debated in his works, major points of reference in contemporary Romanian historical writing, are topical in order to sketch the picture of the Romanian 18th century in Transylvania, marked by the struggle for social and national emancipation.
