Abstract:  An Idea about Beauty. The Notion of Cultural Patrimony in the ’50’s Italian Debate: Continuity and Discontinuity in Juridical Science. The paper examines the question of the conceptual definition of cultural heritage, in the light of a literature that does not yet pay sufficient attention to the problem in a historical perspective. The goal is to test and evaluate how the concept of cultural heritage evolves in its content in the light of the changes brought about by the end of the Second World War and the renovation experienced by Italian juridical science. Secondly, it examines the impact that the debate on reflection has accomplished in the doctrine of international law, setting a significant date in 1954, the year of ratification of the Hague Convention on the Protection of the World Heritage.
