  Abstract:  The Bucharest City is placed in the central part of the Romanian Plain, at equal distances, of 70-80 km, from the transition to the Carpathians in the north and to the PreBalkan Tableland in the south. The center of the Bucharest City has 44°25''50" N and 26°04''50" E coordinates. The shape of the City borders is almost circular (Fig. 1) with 21.5 km average diameter, and 363 km2 surface. In order to know the natural features of the relief, an 1:5,000 topographic map with 1 melevation isolines, was used. The lithology, the internal architecture and the age of morphological elements identified in the Bucharest Plain (see text) are based on data obtained from 1350 wells. Simultaneously, some observations were made in trenches digged for quarries and for new buildings foundation.
