  Abstract:  

The Use of G.I.S. Techniques in Estimating the Floodable Stripes in Relation with Discharges Values with Low Probabilities of Occurrence. Case Study: River Aries - Turda City. To determine the floodable stripes must be followed a complex algorithm involving statistical operations, graphical representations, correlations and cartographic expressions. Each of the elements is supported by appropriate computer software that competes to a high degree of results accuracy. Validation methodology has been made on the case of Arieş River crossing the Turda city between hydrometric station profile and the corresponding area with buildings, with high vulnerability to floods. The final interpretations support the compliance of the buildings position in the floodable areas, which unfortunately is not respected in many cases.
