Abstract:  Employment in Europe and in Romania. Structures a Evolutions on the Contemporary Labour Market. The latest trends in Romania’s economic development show that our country became one of the most dynamic eastern-european economies. A high rate of increase accompanied by a lowering unemployment rate, increasing investements and household revenues are considered at least partly the effects of the expectations concerning our entrance to the E.U., but a deeper analysis shows that our economy is improving not only on the short term. However, the demographic trends and the evolution of the labour market show anxious phenomena connected especially to the ageing and the emigration of manpower, so that Romania will most probably face serious shortages in labour force in the years to come. The structure of the workforce by economic activities shows also significant changes, mostly by the dramatic decrease of the industrial sector.
