Abstract:  Feminist Standpoint Theory: A Critique. This article is a critique of feminist standpoint theory, as synthesised in Sandra Harding’s (1991) famous phrase. Two approaches are followed: in the first part, feminist standpoint theory is analysed as a discursive practice employing various strategies for the ‘intellectual fight’, whereas in the second the main tools are logic and especially deconstruction. It will be argued that feminist standpoint theory, in itself a matter of power and knowledge, is less defendable and effective than its postmodernist competing feminist theories.
