Abstract:  A Short History of Waterpolo in Cluj. This paper begins with a short history of this sport presented at world scale. For the begininnig we can state that the first information related to it comes from England, where it first came to be practised at the second half of the 19 th Century. The first match took place in Bournemouth in 1876. Waterpolo is also included in the Olimpic Game’s Official Programme beginning with its second edition. In Romania starting with the third decade of our century this sport become quite popular in Transilvania; where teams will be set up in Cluj, Oradea and Târgu-Mureş. In Cluj, in 1925 existed four waterpolo teams which took part in various competitions. Cluj - a university center with strong cultural traditions - has a rich history in so far as sports events are concerned, and waterpolo scores special performances.
