  Abstract:  Aspects of the Adaptation to Water. The author wishes to objectively motivate the possibilities of adaptation to water in the process of learning swimming. The adaptation to water is a complex process which implies physiological and psychological aspects as well as methodical problems. This is how one must look upon the process of adaptation of the human body to this environment. The learning of correct aquatic breathong has an utmost importance among the primary activities, which prepare the adaptation to water. In a more advanced stage a correct breathing constitutes a basis for the appropriation of the techniques for coordinating the movements of rowing and propulsion with respiration. Adaptation to water also implies the correct appropriations of floating and gliding. Adaptation to water must lead to the development of the sense of muscular coordination, sense of water, to the gaining of natural movements and positions of the body as well as an adequate muscular tonus.
