Article:   THE SILENT STUDIO-JON FOSSE’S SYSTEM OF PAUSES IN ILLUSTRATIONS AND VARIOUS STAGE SETTINGS.

Authors:  DARIA IOAN.

Abstract:  Jon Fosse’s plays are based on a complex system of pauses and empty spaces in the spoken language. In this article, we try to demonstrate their massive presence and the degree of relevance they have for Fosse’s dramatic production, as well as the imperative need of making them as visible as possible in any of their visual representations. We analyze various recent drawings and stage settings of Fosse’s silence in order to recreate the poetic discourse which led to their creation, following the connection between the texts and various artists’ imagery. Our study will also discuss the meeting points and the differences of the visual codes created in these productions.
