Considering the ancestral proteinase stemzyme-IDP-β as a proper starter-molecule to redesign functional properties among serin-proteinases, we constructed several expression vectors and studied the expression of this hypotethical enzyme in different cellular systems. Expression studies were performed in E. coli cultures, as well as in cultures of the methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris.
