EQUITY IN HEALTH SYSTEM / ECHITATEA ÎN SĂNĂTATE. Authors: ADINA REBELEANU, DANIELA ȘOITU. |

Abstract: Equity in health system. The concept of equity in health is strongly linked to the one of social justice, but also to the one of social conditions and human rights. Unavoidably, the discussion of equity in health also brings out the inequalities in health. During the process of conceptualizing equity in health we took into consideration the World Health Organization’s efforts to define equity in health, respectively to elaborate strategies for alleviating the existent inequities, contributing to promoting equity in health, and also a series of articles that we consider to be of reference for defining this multidimensional concept. Synthesizing the literature, equity in health represents a moral concept based on the principle of social distribution, linked to human rights, which infers equal opportunities in having a good health. Other marks in defining equity in heath are the distribution of resources with the purpose of equalizing health results for disadvantaged groups, equal access to health services, care services suited for certain health needs and the same quality in health care. Keywords: Social justice, Health equity, Healthcare access, Health policy, Action |
