	Rezumat: "To reign but not rule" is the standard by which the main attribute of the British monarchy is normally defined. Most books and studies on the British monarchy give a quite long list of the royal prerogatives standing, however, that there is no real power behind any of the presented items. The main purpose of the present essay is to analyze whether the myth of the British monarchy’s powerlessness has a real foundation or not.
