Abstract:  The relationship between Emil Brunner and Ravasz Laszlo is an intellectual/spiritual one. This spiritual sameness is also proved in the above mentioned title: the title of Bruner’s sermon is “The two sons”, while the title of Ravasz sermon is “The elder brother of the prodigal son”. Brunner says that not only the return of the prodigal son is accentuated, but the grumbling of the elder son is also compared with the Pharisees’ muttering. Ravasz presents the main characteristic of the Pharisees while presenting the elder son in the following way: he boats about his perfection and moral achievement that he didn’t break the Commandment. We can conclude from this that the main characteristics of a Pharisees soul are: legitimacy and worthiness. The mentality of Pharisees and the elder son resembles very much. The thought in both sermons is similar: in both God’s love and call is emphasized, who calls the elder and the younger son to meet Him. This right meeting can only take place in Jesus Christ, the only Theantropos.
