  Abstract:

John Amos Comenius, originally known as Jan Komensky, was the herald of striving for peace and patience throughout his entire life. Born in 1592, in today’s Czech Republic, he completed his education in German universities. During 1614 and 1628, he served as a Unity of the Brethren/Moravian protestant bishop in his birth country, but towards the end of this period he could fulfill this position only as a religious refugee.Terrible times breed a certain degree of spiritual conversion in sensitive spirits. Among the most influential ones, we can mention Via Lucis, Janua Linguarium Reserata, Orbis Pictus and his well-known Didactica Magna, considered to be the cornerstone of modern education. As an educator, he is responsible for the modernization of school systems from his native country, England, Sweden and Hungary. The University of Prague bears his name as a sign of appreciation and reverence for his lifelong strive for world peace and harmony, Christian love and understanding. He worked in Sarospatak between 1650 and 1654. ...
