  Article:   HISTORICAL DEFINITION OF THE AGE OF THE PATRIARCHS / A PÁTRIÁRKÁK KORÁNAK TÖRTÉNELMI MEGHATÁROZÁSA.

  Abstract:  The scientists analyzing the problem of the precise definition of the historical era of the patriarchs have not reached a consent until today. Mainly the arrival of Abraham in Canaan can be dated at the 20–19th century BC. The research and analysis of several archeological findings however gives the possibility to restrict this period of time. The geological research regarding the development of the Dead Sea, works of ancient historians and the informations of the Bible reporting about the lives of the patriarchs help us defining the precise period of the happenings. This study presents the archeological findings, geological, philological and historical research, which makes possible to find the time period of the appearance of Abraham in the Canaanite area, and the settlement of Joseph and Jacob’s family in Egypt.
