Abstract:  The Holy Days of the Pentecostarion and Their Spiritual Meaning. The Ascension of Christ. A liturgical commentary. As a way to commemorate the life and the redemptive work of Lord Jesus Christ, the liturgical year has in its center the Easter and it can be divided into three periods, named after the main book used in the lectern in each of these periods: the Triodion, the Pentecostarion, the Octoechos. The Pentecostarion period lasts from Easter to the first Sunday after the Pentecost or The Sunday of All Saints (eight weeks). It represents the liturgical time after the Resurrection until the Ascension of Lord Jesus Christ, followed by the Descent of the Holy Spirit and the founding of the Christian Church. It is the period of the victory against the sin and death; it is the time of triumph and Easter joy. The liturgical celebration of Lord’s Passions and Resurrection constitute the center of Christ’s presence in the Church. That is why the entire Church cult, in its different manifestations, has a paschal character.

Keywords: the Pentecostarion, the Ascension of Lord Jesus Christ, triumph, liturgical character.
