Abstract:  The Saint Ioan Casian - Protector of the True Faith -General Aspects. Among the outstanding monks of Scythia Minor (the nowadays Dobrogea) from the primary Christian period, an important representative is the Saint Ioan Casian (c.360-435). His works present him to us as a person with high moral and intellectual background, an equilibrate monk and an important theologian. By presenting some of the paragraphs of the Saint Ioan Casian’s work entitled Of the Lord’s Embodiment, against Nestorie, we can observe that the above mentioned author was considered not only a great theologian of his time, as the archdeacon Leon, the future pope Leon the Great, stated, who claimed for this work, but also from the way of conceiving and elaborating that book. We can notice that he knew well the heresies of the time and at the same time he could foresee the danger for the Christendom. In order to fight against it he used the “arms of the spirit”, that is the texts form the Holy Scripture and the Saint Tradition, that is from eight patristic authors, used with wisdom and skill, which presumes their deep knowledge. By the way he sustained and protected the mariological and christological dogmas (following the line of the eastern and western patristic authors), he may be considered one of the most important theologians of the primary Church.
