  Abstract:  BUCHAREST: OMONIA, 2008.
Saint Theodore the Studite is known in our country because of his catecheses, well received especially in the monastic environment. Part of these catecheses were translated and published in Romanian at the end of the XVIIIth century. Other writings have circulated in the Romanian theological area in the form of manuscripts, and they were never published in printed form. Prof. N. Banescu was the first who gave us a monograph, although very brief, of Saint Theodore, in 1927. In the 40s, A. Dincă wrote a more detailed of Theodore and republished his catecheses. In the last decade of the XXth century, the personality of St. Theodore was brought into our attention by Ioan I. Ica jr., who translated in Romanian one of the most important writings of Theodore, namely the three treatises against those who rejected icons; a very comprehensive and valuable introduction accompanied this translation. After 2000 there are two studies worthy to be mentioned: M. Bratu, Les notions de circonscriptible et d΄incirconscriptible, 2003, and N. Chifăr, Refutation of iconoclasm as reflected in the writings of St. Theodore the Studite, 2007.
