Abstract:  The Action of Tanase Todoran from 1763 in the Conscience of the Posteritv: a Letter - Document from 1887, Concerning the Sedition in Salva. The Romanians living in Transylvania in the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, due to their special situation inside the Habsburgic Empire (a conglomeration of nations and faiths) have consacrated much attention to their past and they have looked with obstinacy and hope to any historical fact wich could serve to their self -justification and evidentiate the examples that were intended for their strengthening in the holy fight for protecting the right belief. Such an event was the sedition from Salva, on the Mocirla Plateau, in 1763. Its hero was T1mase (Atanasie) Todoran from Bichigiu. Many books were written about the importance of this rebellion. Especially during the 20th century, and, more recently, a volume of studies, entitled: "Testimony and martyrdom in Transylvania in the 18th century. In memoriam: to the hero Tanase (Atanasie) Todoran from Bichigiu", coordinated by Dorel Man and Flore Pop, Renaşterea Publishing House, Cluj-Napoca, 2004, 273 pp., was dedicated to this event. In our study we will present a testimony from the archives, dating back from 1887, wich comes to offer us another evidence about the sedition from Salva, led by Tănase Todoran in 1763. Through this letter, Nestor Simion, a lawyer and a true patriot, identifies himself as a research worker and a lover of history, being aware of the importance of Todoran’s action: ,,I found the cause of Todoran’s opposition to militarization: I mean he didn’t oppose to militarization, but he opposed to the tentatives of unification with The Church of Rome, because in those times the Romanians were bearing the most ferocious fights and The Court from Vienna wanted to operate the unification with Rome together with the militarization".
