  Abstract:  L’Art chrétien et les symboles – des valeurs éducatives. L’art est une partie de la mission de l’Église. Il remplit un vide esthétique est a une fonction réparatoire. L’art religieux comprend plusieurs chapitres, dont cette étude ne développe que trois: l’architecture, la peinture et la musique. L’architecture a connu une très complexe évolution, depuis la simple maison de prière du Nouveau Testament jusqu’aux formes profondément spiritualisées de l’architecture byzantine et post-byzantine, la mystagogie de Saint Maxime le Confesseur en constituant un grandiose modèle théorique. La peinture byzantine, avec son aspect hyératique, témoigne de l’idéal ascétique de l’orthodoxie. Le chant liturgique aide à mieux comprendre le texte sacré et crée en même temps une atmosphère d’élévation spirituelle.
