  Abstract:  In vasta literatură exegetică dedicată lui Augustin doar o parte a studiilor atestă o reală simpatie hermeneutică faţă de corpus-ul investigat. Printre acestea se numără si lucrarea tanărului cercetător italian Salvatore Taranto consacrată temei filosofice a iubirii în opera lui Augustin. Trebuie menţionat că autorul se află la cea de a doua carte pe teme augustiniene, după L’orizzonte dell’assoluto: il tempo della libertà. Una proposta per una nuova ermeneutica del tempo in Agostino di Ippona (Ed. Axa, Botosani, 2000); de asemenea, faptul că subiectele abordate în cele două cărţi sunt centrale în problematica augustinismului, fiind dintre cele mai discutate în literatura de specialitate. Pluralitatea interpretărilor si a soluţiilor propuse amplifică însă munca cercetătorului dornic de rezultate probate riguros.
