Abstract:  The present essay investigates a problem that is important for societies in transition: social dialogue. Modernity has made social experience relative, there are no universally valid answers. There is, however, a common point of reference: liberty as a central value of (post)modernity. Morally right behavior presupposes care for your fellowmen. Questions related to this care place us in the sphere of a permanent discourse. As there are no universal answers, the context and intersubjectivity are of utmost importance for every situation in part, social dialogue becoming this way a determining factor, even a condition for the “durability” of modernity. It is the conclusion of this essay that unfortunately in Romania there is no real social dialogue even today, after the transformation that took place in the last fifteen years; the major themes of politics are not considered discoursively, from this reason the answers to the great themes of the present are not only short-circuited but even the posing of the problem is deficient: it is focused on the political actor instead of giving importance to the theme in question.
