Difficulties of Romanian Speakers in Learning Address Terms in European Portuguese. In this paper, we present and analyse mistakes made by Romanian speakers in learning the European Portuguese (EP) address terms, “formas de tratamento” (FT). We analysed two main types of mistakes, morphosyntactic and semantic-pragmatic. As far as the first category is concerned, we noticed that errors involving the pronouns você and vocês are the most frequent, while for the semantic-pragmatic errors, the most numerous are linked to the pronoun você, followed by address terms for women. The verbal formal address (3rd person singular) is also challenging. It is thus necessary to develop specific materials for all levels, to improve this issue in learning EP.

Key-words: European Portuguese as L2, pragmatic competence, learning address terms, mother tongue influence.
